Connect ChatGPT

Add DJ Sync to ChatGPT once on the web. It then works in the ChatGPT app on your phone as well.

Needs a paid ChatGPT plan. Adding a custom connector (MCP server) to ChatGPT requires a Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu plan. On ChatGPT’s free plan, connect DJ Sync through Telegram, Claude’s free plan or an iPhone Shortcut instead. All three are free.
  1. Copy your private link from DJ Sync

Click the DJ Sync icon in your menu bar, go to Assistants, click Connect ChatGPT and then Copy. It looks like https://djsync.jeffrey.build/…/…/mcp.

Treat this link like a password. Anyone with it can send requests to your Mac. If it ever leaks, use Rotate in the same place: the old link stops working at once.
  2. Add it to ChatGPT

On a computer, open chatgpt.com, go to Settings → Apps & Connectors and create a custom connector (MCP server). Fill in:

    • Name: DJ Sync
    • MCP server URL: paste your link
    • Authentication: No authentication (the link itself is the key)

Save it. ChatGPT may warn that the connector isn’t verified by OpenAI. That’s expected for independent apps like DJ Sync.

ChatGPT’s menus move around and differ by plan: the place may be called Apps & Connectors, Connectors or Plugins. On a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, an admin may need to allow custom connectors first.
  3. Ask, on your computer or your phone

Start a new chat and mention DJ Sync (or pick it from the + tools menu). Once added on the web, DJ Sync is also in the ChatGPT app on your iPhone or Android phone. ChatGPT asks you to confirm before it changes anything. Try:

    • “Download https://open.spotify.com/track/… into my Gqom playlist.”
    • “How many afrobeats playlists do I have?”
    • “Search my library for amapiano between 110 and 115 BPM and make a playlist of the results.”
    • “Rename Friday Warm-up to Friday Opening.”
    • “What happened to my last download?”

The DJ Sync menu shows when ChatGPT last used your link.

After DJ Sync updates, refresh the connector

ChatGPT keeps its own copy of DJ Sync’s list of tools from when you added it. When DJ Sync gains new tools, ChatGPT keeps using the old list until you refresh it. The tell-tale sign is ChatGPT saying DJ Sync can only download tracks and check downloads, or that it can’t see your playlists.

  1. On chatgpt.com, open Settings → Apps & Connectors → DJ Sync.
  2. Click Refresh. If there’s no Refresh, remove DJ Sync and add it again with the link from DJ Sync → Assistants → Copy.
  3. Start a new chat. Older chats can keep the old list. Your phone uses the same connector, so there’s nothing to do there.
